Srinagar, January 10: An unidentified terrorist was eliminated by Indian security forces on Tuesday morning in an encounter that took place at Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir. Heavy arms, ammunitions and paraphernalia also been recovered from the slain terrorist.
Acting on specific intelligence input about the presence of the terrorist in Parray Mohalla in Hajin area, security forces immediately launched a search operation in the village. As the forces were conducting the search operation, the hiding militant opened fire on them therefore security forces retaliated by firing shots at the terrorists and successfully eliminated one. An Army jawan sustained minor injuries in the crossfire.
Meanwhile, the firing has been stopped now and the operation declared over. An official said that the militants hiding in a residential house opened fire on a search party of Army’s 13 RR and SOG in Parray Mohalla of Hajin early Tuesday. The fire was retaliated, triggering a brief encounter in which a militant was killed and a soldier injured, he said, adding that another militant managed to escape.
Importantly, this came just a day after three civilians working as labourers of General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) were killed in the terror attack in Battal along the Line of Control in Jourian area of Akhnoor.
Notably, since Indian Army have conducted a surgical strike on seven terror launch pads on the intervening night of September 28-29 across the LoC and inflicted significant casualties on terrorists preparing to infiltrate from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), numerous incidents of cross-border firing and attack on security forces have taken place.
