Gandhinagar Jan 10: Calling India a bright spot in the global economy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India's strength lies in demography, democracy, and demand.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of 8th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Summit in Gandhinagar. The Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit will be held from January 10-13 which would focus on "Sustainable economy and Social Development".
Calling democracy India's biggest strength, the Prime Minister said, "Some people say democracy cannot deliver effective and fast track governance, but we have seen in last two and a half years, it is possible to deliver quick results as well."
Informing about the various initiatives to promote digital economy Modi asserted that Indian economy is on the threshold of becoming the world's most digitised economy. Emphasising on the technological intervention for qualitative and quantitative change in the process of governance Modi said that e-governance is easy and effective governance.
Addressing the global investors Modi said that Indian Govt is strongly committed to continue the reforms of Indian economy where a lot of work has been done on the front of ease of doing business with the highest priority.
Speaking about the global situation Modi reiterated that with the flagship programme of Make in India has become the 6th largest manufacturing country in the world. He also stated that government is working on mission mode to bring a paradigm shift in our policies and economy.
Earlier, Modi met several visiting foreign dignitaries including President of Rwanda and Prime Minister of Serbia to promote bilateral relations and investment opportunities. A number of India's leading corporate leaders including Mukesh Ambani of the Reliance Industries, Ratan Tata of the Tata Group and Mukesh Adani of the Adanis also addressed the event.
PM Modi also met several delegates from different nations as well as Fortune 500 CEOs including John Chambers of Cisco on the sidelines of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. Vibrant Gujarat summit held once every two years, was launched in 2003 by PM Modi while he was Chief Minister of Gujarat.
