New Delhi, January 12: Amazon immediately removes the offensive Indian-flag doormats and all the other products from the website in Canada as Minister for External affairs Sushma Swaraj opposed it strongly and strictly said that the Government of India would not grant Amazon officials visas to India.
Minister Sushma Swaraj on Twitter slammed Amazon straight away for selling Indian-flag doormats in Canada and demanded an unconditional apology from Amazon and asked it to immediately withdraw all the products insulting Indian national flag.
Minister Sushma has also asked Indian High Commission in Canada to look into the matter and deal strictly with the e-commerce company and also asked to concern it with the highest authorities of Amazon.
Notably, Atul Bhobe on Wednesday has tweeted to Sushma Swaraj and brought this into her knowledge. He tweeted, “Amazon Canada must be censured and warned not to sell India flag doormats. Please take action.”
Sushma Swaraj immediately took this tweet seriously and reacting strictly asked Amazon to remove all the products insulting India’s national-flag. She immediately retweeted and Atul Bhobe and informed about the steps that are taken.
Interestingly, disrespect to the national flag is a punishable offence in India. It involves a three-year jail term and a fine or both. But products bearing national flags are common abroad.
Basically, Minister Sushma Swaraj is known for helping Indians living abroad and other foreign nationals too. But this is not for the first time that Sushma has reacted so strictly. Sushma’s action clearly states that Government is very serious to protect India’s dignity and can take strict action against anyone whosoever tries to insult India.
