BJP seeks EC’s intervention over Rahul Gandhi’s handful remarks

New Delhi, Jan 17 : Ahead of the important assembly elections in five states, BJP has registered a complaint against Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi for his recent comments  where he compared  he party symbol 'hand' with religious figures.

Calling it as a violation of code of conduct BJP approached election commission and also sought the 'seizure' of the election symbol of Congress. Earlier Rahul Gandhi Rahul Gandhi's correlated the party symbol 'hand' with religious figures at the Congress' 'Jan Vedna Sammelan' in Delhi on January 11.

The delegation to the Election Commission was led by union ministers Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Prakash Javadekar, while party's National General Secretary Arun Singh were present.

Speaking to the media Union ministers Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, "Rahul Gandhi's remarks are nothing but a conspiracy to communally vitiate the polls. By relating the party symbol with religious figures, he wants to tell the people that by voting for the Congress, they will vote for their religion," said Naqvi .

Taking a jibe on the Congress party Naqvi said that that the Congress has aligned with the Samajwadi Party, their common minimum programme will be based on communalism, corruption and misgovernance.
