BJP worker murdered in Kannur ; Party blames state gov for nurturing violence

Kannur, Jan 19 : Adding yet another incidence of brutal killing in the political conflict between CPI(M) and BJP   a 30-year-old BJP worker was stab to death allegedly by CPI(M) cadres in the politically sensitive Kannur district. The incident took place near Dharmadom, which happens to be the constituency of Chief Minister P Vijayan, police said.

Ezhuthan Santhosh, 52 BJP worker was attacked by the CPI(M) workers when he was alone in his house at Andaloor in Dharmadam  late last night. Santhosh was the former Mukhya Shikshak of the RSS Shakha in Andallur. He was   holding the charge of booth president of Andaloor where recently he had contested the last local body elections.

His wife and children were away when the incident took place. It is alleged that the assailants reached his home at 11pm and attacked him. Santhosh was rushed to hospital by his friends, but died of excessive bleeding.

As per Police investigations, the murder could have been a result of a clash between ABVP and SFI workers at Brennan College in Thalassery, in connection with the Vivekananda Jayanthi.

In another incident in the district, a bomb was thrown at the RSS Karyalaya at Thaliparamba this morning, police said, adding no one was injured in the incident.

Taking a stock of ground zero Superintendent of Police of Kannur district KP Philip informed that Santosh was rushed to a hospital but he died on the way. The situation in the area is tense, he added. Meanwhile, police said that they have taken some persons into custody and questioning them. The police has termed it is a ‘political murder’. The district administration has called for an all party meeting to bring peace in the district.

Blaming the ruling party CPI(M) for the continuous and intentional attacks on RSS and BJP members state party leader alleged that the communist party is deliberately  targeting  the BJP works.

Hitting hard at the state government senior Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu said that the ruling CPI(M) was practising ‘murderous politics’ in the state and warned them that they ‘will get it back politically’.

"They are talking about tolerance...Intolerance. They are attacking my party people, my supporters. It is condemnable. The entire country is watching what CPI(M) is doing in Kerala," he added.  In the protest of this brutality BJP has called for a hartal in Kannur where Shops have downed shutters and vehicles are off the roads.

Condemning the horrifying killings of RSS and BJP workers in the state of Kerala  RSS thinker Prof Rakesh Sinha said, “CPI (M) is actually ‘Communist Party of Murderers” He was speaking to the news agency  ANI.

He accused Chief Minister P.N. Vijayan for encouraging CPI(M) workers to torture RSS. “By doing so he thinks he will derail the growth and expansion of RSS.” 

Commenting on the whole incident M.B Prakash, General Secretary of CPI(M), said  “We have demanded comprehensive enquiry into the matter. It was reported that the man was found killed in his own home and there was nobody else in his home. It was also reported that there were some family dispute over property.
