Cuttack, January 20: India on Thursday registered a comprehensive win against England in the second One Day Match due to the centuries made by Yuvraj and Dhoni held at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack and sealed the 3 match series by 2-0. Notably, India compiled a massive score of 381 runs for six in 50 overs. But in reply England scored 366 runs in 50 overs and lost the match.
Earlier, England won the toss and invited India to bat first. But India lost three early wickets on the score of only 25 runs inside five overs. Then Yuvraj Singh, Mahendra Singh Dhoni played a beautiful knock of 150 and 128 runs respectively helped India to reach the winning score of 381 runs.
England tried hard to win the game but unfortunately lost. England skipper Eoin Morgan led the charge once opener Jason Roy and Joe Root set up the chase with a century partnership. Morgan got to his century off 80 balls with six fours and five sixes. Liam Plunkett hung in with him till it was 28 needed off 10 balls, which given the counterattack England staged, seemed perfectly gettable.
That was when a run out tilted the match back in India’s favour. Eoin Morgan was dismissed at the non-striker’s end after he backed up quite a bit. England needed 22 off the final over by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Kumar bowled well and India easily won the match. Yuvraj was named as Man of the Match.
India 381 for 6 (Yuvraj 150, Dhoni 134, Woakes 4-60) beat England 366 for 8 (Morgan 102, Roy 82, Moeen 55, Root 54, Ashwin 3-65) by 15 runs.
