New Delhi, Jan 24 : According a worm welcome to the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on his second visit to India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted him personally with a warm hug at Delhi airport.
Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi is the chief guest for this year’s Republic Day celebrations. Informing about the event spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted along with pictures of the two leaders.
Earlier in August 2015 Prime Minister Modi made a state visit to the UAE. It was the first prime ministerial visit from India to the UAE in 34 years. Near about 2.6 million Indian Diaspora lives in the UAE and their annual remittance is estimated to be around USD14 billion.
Trade is another important component of the bilateral ties as UAE is India’s third largest trading partner after China and the United States. Bilateral trade between UAE and India is around USD 60 billion.
According to official programme on Wednesday PM Narendra Modi and Sheikh Mohamed will engage the bilateral delegation-level talks where number of agreements, including one on creation of an investment fund, are expected to be signed. The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi is scheduled to meet the President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President Hamid Ansari.
On Thursday, Sheikh Mohamed will attend the Republic Day parade as the chief guest. A contingent of the UAE armed forces will also march along with the Indian armed forces during the parade.
