Haridwar, January 29: Election Commission has issued a notice to Congress leader and Chief Minister Harish Rawat on violating the election model code of conduct during his filing of nominations for assembly elections on the 27th of January.Election Commission After verifying the facts from video footage issued this notice. The District Magistrate Harbans chug and Police Chief Rajiv swarup have been also removed immediately as both of them failed to take prompt action in the matter. Harish Rawat had used 200 vehicles while going to file his nomination papers on Friday, BJP leader Vikas Tiwari said.
District Election Officer Harbans Singh Chugh said Congress candidate Harish Rawat was found violating the directives of the Election Commission. During his nomination procession, Harish Rawat used more vehicles than allowed by the district election office.
The returning officer has sought a reply within 48 hours. He has also asked Rawat why the expenditure of non-permitted vehicles not be included in his election expenditure account. In case the reply was not received within the stipulated time, action would be taken against the candidate, Chugh said.
The state BJP had filed a detailed complaint against the Chief Minister with the Election office in Dehradun. In its complaint, it was alleged by BJP that during the nomination Harish Rawat used more vehicles in his car cade than the approval taken by part.
