Ahmedabad, Jan 31 : P P Pandey who is holding the top post of DGP Gujarat got a three-months extension from central government. Pandey who is currently out on regular bail has been charge-sheeted by CBI in the 2004 Ishrat Jahan alleged fake encounter case.
Pandey was heading the state crime branch when the encounter of Ishrat Jahan took place in the 2004. According to officials the extension was granted after the proposal from Gujarat government.
For three more months P.P. Pandey, will serve as the Gujarat Director General of Police (DGP) and as the Director of state Anti Corruption Bureau. last year Pandey was appointed as the in-charge DGP of Gujarat.
Pandey, a 1980 batch Gujarat-cadre IPS officer has got the extension for three months by the appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) of the Central government was to retire on Tuesday.
