Mumbai, Jan 31: Coming out as a nasty jolt for businessman Vijay Mallya, a special CBI court has issued a non-bailable warrant in the graft case of IDBI Bank. Special CBI judge H.S. Mahajan has issued the order after the affidavit submitted by CBI with detailed information about the Mallya's precise address in the UK.
Informing about the decision of the court CBI official said, “The court issued a non-bailable warrant against Mallya after we filed an affidavit seeking his extradition from the UK”. He further informed that the warrant will be sent to that country through diplomatic channels.
According to media reports, not just CBI, Enforcement Directorate will also start the extradition process against Vijay Mallya. Earlier, the CBI had filed a 2000-page chargesheet against 11 accused, including Vijay Mallya.
CBI had earlier said all the accused in the case manipulate and can tamper with evidence, and therefore should be kept in judicial custody. The court has been adjourned till Friday, February 3.
