Lucknow, Oct 10: The Uttar Pradesh government is planning to erect a 100 meter high grand statue of Sri Ram on the banks of the Sarayu River in Ayodhya.
According to the project released by the State Tourism Ministry on Monday the 100-meter high statue is part of the state government’s plan to promote religious tourism. The government has already removed Taj Mahal from the list of tourist places of the state.
The proposed statue of Sri Ram is part of “Navya Ayodhya” project, an initiative by the Uttar Pradesh government to give a new impetus to the economy through the requalification of Hindu monuments. The project would cost Rs 1.958 billion.
