Ranchi, October 3: Jharkhand is that state still submerged in poverty but for how many days? Well, that’s going to change soon. Yesterday on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, CM Raghubar Das distributed 20,051 houses to the homeless people under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme. After he became the true heir of the CM seat, Das’s biggest dream is to see every person in the state with a house by 2020.
Remembering Gandhi Ji’s struggle during the 1900s, Das noted that Mahatma Gandhi not only wanted India as an independent nation but also wanted to see it as a ‘developed and clean’ nation.
In order to give the homeless a dignified life, the government is providing electricity, toilets, water, gas cylinders and ovens, the press release quoting Das said. The chief minister also said that the newly constructed houses should be registered in the name of women.
He also said that to fulfil Mahatma Gandhi’s Swachhta dream, 41 cities in the state have become open defection free (ODF), adding that by 2018 the whole state would become ODF. He also asked everyone to take oath and keep the environment clean after the state was announced ODF free. Around 91,000 houses were approved under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme in Jharkhand.
Meanwhile, the Jharkhand unit of BJP today congratulated the Raghubar Das government for distributing houses to 20,051 beneficiaries and announcing 41 cities as open defecation free. Party spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo praised CM in connection with the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, proving itself in distributing more than 20,000 houses through hard work in less time. Truly, Raghubar Das brought smiles to thousands of poor families through the house warming ceremony.
