Mumbai, October 5: Maharashtra government has made it mandatory for all the petrol pumps to file an audit report every year which will come into effect from 1st October. This decision will control the irregularities in the sales of petrol and diesel. Also using tamper-proof potted pulsar should be made mandatory for all petrol pumps in the state have been requested to the petroleum which will leave no room for manipulations.
Often the customers are cheated as the petrol pumps dispense lower quantities of fuel than ordered. To curb this menace Maharashtra government has brought this decision to file an audit report every year.
Amitabh Gupta, Senior IPS Officer and Controller, Legal Metrology, said the audit report includes inspection of all software and hardware being used by the petrol pump for dispensing fuel. The inspection will be done in the presence of representatives from oil companies, manufacturers of dispensing units and the petrol pump dealer. “The idea is to make all of them responsible for any kind of manipulations or irregularities found in future,” Gupta said. Letter to Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has been written, requesting him to issue directives to petrol pump dealers for using tamper-proof potted pulsar.
