Raipur, October 7: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh said that farmers are 'annadaata' who feed the entire nation. The agriculturists work tirelessly in monsoons, summer heat and biting cold to provide food grains to the hungry citizens. The top priority of the State Government is the welfare of farmer.
Chief Minister dedicated and performed 'bhoomipujan' of 70 developmental works worth Rs 137 crore 64 lakh at both the districts. He added that with the blessings of 'Maa Bambhleshwari' a historic 'Bonus Tihar' is being organized in the temple town.
Dr. Raman Singh said that there was scanty rainfall in 96 tehsils of 21 districts. The State Government had been working tirelessly to improve the living conditions of farmers and paddy Bonus will be declared next year also. The State Government had worked for the welfare of farmers during the past 14 years since 2003.
“The authorities are providing loans at 'Zero' per cent interest rate to the farmers and freed the farmers from loans' sharks. They had made arrangements to purchase paddy worth Rs 11 thousand crore from the farmers,” he added.
Singh said that State had made significant progress in the farm sector. The farmers are being provided with sprinklers and drip irrigation equipment at nominal rates. Area under oil seeds and pulses had been increased. The State Government had allotted bonus worth Rs 2343 crore in the year 2013-2014 and Rs 1800 crore in the year 2015. Electricity up to a maximum of 1500 units is supplied free of charge. Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi had reduced the cost of fertilizers keeping in mind the welfare of farmers. About 14 lakh women had been allocated free domestic gas connections under the 'Ujjwala' project. Homeless citizens will be provided with houses by the year 2022.
