Security forces gunned down two local terrorists in Kulgam district of South Kashmir

Srinagar, November 13: At least two terrorists were killed by the security forces on Tuesday after the fierce encounter took place in the Kund area of Kulgam district in southern Kashmir. The arms and ammunition along with the dead body of slain terrorists are recovered from the encounter site and counter operations are been called off. Unfortunately, one soldier attained a martyrdom while one policeman was injured.

 

Notably, security forces eliminated two more local terrorists identified as Aijaz Makroo and Shamsul Veqar after a fierce gun battle took place in the Kund area of Kulgam district in southern Kashmir. However, the official confirmation about identification is still awaited. Heavy arms and ammunition were recovered along with the body of slain terrorists.


The encounter began as security forces including troops of 10-Sikh regiment, 183 battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police was carrying out a cordon-and-search operation after receiving information about the presence of a few suspected terrorists. In the counter-terrorism operation, one soldier of 10-Sikh regiment attained a martyrdom while one policeman was injured who is stable now.

Security forces on Monday evening also eliminated two local terrorists after a fierce encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Zachaldara village of Handwara district. In the last week, at least three terrorists belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammad terror outfit were killed by the security forces after the fierce encounter took place in the Aglar Kandi region of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar’s nephew Talha Rasheed was among the three terrorists who were killed in an encounter with the security forces.


BACKGROUND:

The Indian security forces have led a massive war against terrorism and terrorists in the inner parts of Jammu-Kashmir and forward areas. Therefore, Anti-Terrorism operation is continued with such a speed that at least 180 terrorists are eliminated by Indian troops in a time period of only 10 months.

The slain terrorists included over a dozen top commanders including Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Abu Khalid, Abu Musaib, the nephew of Mumbai terror attack mastermind and Lashkar-e-Taiba leader, Zaki-ur Rehman Lakhvi, Lashkar-Toiba Kashmir chief Abu Dujana, Hizbul Mujahideen commander Sabzar Ahmad Bhat, Amarnath attack mastermind and Lashkar-Toiba Kashmir chief Abu Ismail and others. There are over 220 militants active in Kashmir.
