Tokyo, November 15: Japan and India have improved bi-lateral relation significantly in recent time. Where the exchange in diplomatic level has increased, now aiming at improved people-to-people exchanges between the countries, Japan will simplify its visa rules from January 1 next year for Indians.

A Japanese Foreign Ministry press release said Japan will start the visa relaxation measures for multiple- entry-visa for short-term stay to nationals of India from January 1, 2018. “The relaxations are expected to help further development of people-to-people exchanges between Japan and India by enhancing convenience for Indian tourists and business persons as well as repeat visitors,” the statement says.

Mainly three measures will be taken for the process. First one is a simplification of visa application documents. 'Applicant’s Employment Certificate' and 'Explanation Letter stating the reason for applying for multiple-entry-visa' will be exempted from applying for multiple-entry-visa. Applicants with Passport, Visa Application Form, documents to prove the financial capability for tourism purpose and affiliation to certain enterprises for business purpose.

Japan government already introduced the simplification of visa application procedure for a single entry visa for Indian students to promote visit of Indian youths to Japan. By this relaxation, Indian students, graduate students and alumni of universities in India may submit the certificate of student status or graduation instead of the document to prove financial capability in the application for a single entry visa for a short-term stay.
