India Rice Conclave 2017 kicked off; Andhra Pradesh aims to strengthen ‘rice production’

Vijayawada, November 22: India Rice Conclave 2017 kicked off with an aim to draw innovative concepts for strengthening rice production. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that Andhra Pradesh is adopting a holistic approach and also building the capacity to utilize technology for achieving food security. 

India Rice Conclave 2017 was organised by the Agriculture Department of Andhra Pradesh in association with Indian Chamber of Commerce for strengthening rice production in the state.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has asked agricultural scientists to innovate the best variety of paddy seed to improve quality paddy produce.

 

Inaugurating India Rice conclave 2017 today, CM Naidu said that farmers security is the need of the hour and further underlined that best practices should be introduced in agriculture sector and priority should be given for better outcome of the research practices.

Further CM Naidu said that drones should be used to monitor pest control as a pilot project during Rabi season.

India is one of the largest producers of rice in the World which accounts of about 20% of all worlds’ Rice production. Whereas Andhra Pradesh is the Fifth largest state in India accounting for 9% of the country’s area. In Andhra Pradesh, rice is grown in 22 districts out of which 14 districts fall under high productivity group which yield more than 2500 kg/ha.
