Agartala, November 22: “Don’t kill me! I have Wife, I have two children” were the last words of Tripura’s veteran Journalist Sudip Datta Bhaumik 49, who was killed by TSR commandant Tapan Debbarma at battalion headquarters of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) near Agartala. Sudip Datta Bhaumik was working for a vernacular daily Syandan Patrika and was also contributing to local television channel News Vanguard.

The Leftist Government Tripura headed by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is quiet on this issue. Both CM Manik Sarkar and his ‘Blood Thirsty’ Police Force of the Leftist rule are remorseless on the brutal ghastly murder of not only the journalist but also the press freedom in Tripura.

Where are the preachers of Press Freedom?

The death of real journalists like Sudip Datta Bhaumik whose journalism is becoming rare has no political value and that too in a Leftist government where there is Zero scope of Modi Bashing… Let him die… let his two kids cry… let his wife search for job… let his mother faint… who cares. The murder of Sudip exposes the arrogance of Manik Sarkar’s apathy towards basic human rights and it equally makes the gang of many who used murder of Gauri Lankesh for their petty political and ideological vendetta.

Manik Sarkar led Tripura Police turned into a den of seasoned murderers as Journalist killers produced before court without any strong chargesheet. This is another black-day in the history of democracy, when the saviors have turned killers and Tuesday's incident which slain Tripura's veteran Journalist Sudip Datta Bhaumik inside TSR HQ of 2nd Bn will remain as a dark spot in Tripura's history.
Reports said that a TSR trooper shot dead Sudip Datta Bhowmik from point-blank range just outside the office of Commandant Tapan Debbarma at around 11.30 a.m. Surprisingly, the journalist was taken to GB Pant Hospital here at around 2.30 p.m where doctors declared him brought dead.
According to the inside news grabbed by a local newsportal says: Sudip Datta Bhaumik was called by TSR Bn and before leaving for the camp, Bhaumik told his newspaper's editor Subol Dey about this. Bhaumik was making various corruption related news on Tapan Debbarma who earlier was in 1st Bn and for some time he also worked as the Add SP of West. Various financial misappropriations were reported against him by Sudip Datta Bhaumik and total 11 channels had broadcasted the news.

After Sudip Datta Bhaumik entered the commandant’s office, he was offered with tea, biscuits. But suddenly from outside it was heard Sudip Datta Bahumik is saying, “Please Don’t kill me. Let me go, I have wife, 2 children”.
Both TSR Commandant Tapan Debbarma, his bodyguard Nandu Reang have been produced before the court on Wednesday. They are now arrested in connection with the murder of journalist.

Questioning selective yardsticks
Though the demi gods of Indian journalism have disregarded the killing of a journalist by the state machinery and even the National Human Rights Commission is questionably silent, the awakened Twitterati has not let the martyrdom of Sudip go unsung.
Sunil Deodhar, a long-time activist and specialist of the inner issues o North East has tweeted: Cold blooded murder of journo #SudipDattaBhowmik in Tripura was pre-planned. He wrote 3 articles exposing financial frauds of #TapanDebbarma who is Commandant of 2nd #TripuraStateRifles (TSR) battalion. Commandant called Sudip in his office where he was shot dead by AK 47 rifle.

Assam Minister Hemant Bisva Sarma terms the murder as ‘Gunda & Jungle Raj of #ManikSarkar’
Hitting the correct nurve, Dr Rakesh Sinha, the Director India Policy Foundation, has questioned the Secular forces about their suspicious silence and their selectiveness in shouting for justice. “Do you consider life of Journalist Sudip Datta Bhaumik was lesser (?) than Gauri Lankesh?”, asks Dr Sinha.

Two Journalists killed within two months
Frantic journalists came on roads and burnt press jackets in front of the Chief Minister’s resident following the brutal murder of Sudip Datta Bhaumik. This jacket was recently given by State Police Headquarter as a part of identification and respect to the journalists after TV Journalist Santanu Bhaumik was killed at Mandai on Sep 20.

No national outrage: where are the preachers of Press Freedom?
The freedom of press, the freedom of speech is in danger in Leftist Tripura. Two senior and veteran journalists are assailed but ironically there is no national upsurge of protesting tweets and haunting of the Chief Minister, or questioning the integrity of the Prime Minister. Everything is fair when it comes to their own Leftist regime and the murderous ideology.
Recently another activist Gauri Lankesh was killed by some ‘unknown’ assailants (who recently are allegedly identified as Maoists). The nation saw a huge pouring of tweets supporting Lankesh, escaping the Chief Minister and attacking the Prime Minister. The political mileage misses in the case of murder of a neutral journalist like Sudip Datta Bhaumik. The GauriLankesh murder case trails are pointing towards Naxalites. But the so called liberal clan of journalists with Church sponsored NGOs and activists raised their pitch against PM Modi in a most contemptuous language crossing all barriers of dignity and modesty. There was a best political mileage in the murder of Lankesh even she was killed by her own gang of Comrades for washing their laundry in open. (See tweets by Lankesh).
