After IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Srilankan Prime Minister delivered their speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched UMANG app. UMANG provides a single platform for all Indian Citizens to access pan India e-Gov services ranging from Central to Local Government bodies and other citizen-centric services. It provides a unified approach where citizens can install one application to avail multiple government services.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered the keynote address in the inaugural programme. Taking the example of old Indian thinking PM said technology has no barriers. On the importance of Cybersecurity, PM said, global community needs to approach the issue of cyber-security with confidence, as much as with resolve. It is important to ensure that vulnerable sections of our society do not fall prey to the evil designs of cybercriminals.

“Social media platforms are making cyber-space participative for all. News that experts tell us from studios is now supplemented by experiences highlighted on social media. This transition, to a blend of expertise and experience, is the contribution of the cyber world,” PM said.

The overall goals of GCCS 2017 are to promote the importance of inclusiveness and human rights in global cyber policy, to defend the status quo of an open, interoperable and unregimented cyberspace, to create political commitment for capacity building initiatives to address the digital divide and assist countries, and to develop security solutions in a balanced fashion that duly acknowledge the importance of the private sector and technical community.
