New Delhi, December 13: Under a new scheme, the Delhi government has proposed to bear, at private hospitals, the cost of treatment of victims of motor accidents, fire incidents and acid attacks that take place on city's roads.

Briefing reporters, State Health Minister Satyendra Jain said, irrespective of domicile of the victims, free medical treatment will be provided to them at private hospitals in case of such incidents.

The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal yesterday. Satyendra Jain said, the treatment in government hospitals is already free. Jain said, the plan will now be sent to Delhi Lt. Governor Anil Baijal for approval.

Apart from the scheme, Mr. Jain said the government’s ‘Good Samaritan Policy’, under which anyone who takes an accident victim to a hospital would be given Rs 2,000, would be launched.

The Delhi Cabinet had passed the policy in January this year and it was being enforced.
