Gujarat election campaigning on full swing; all ‘Star Pracharak’ on ground today

Ahmedabad, December 3: With just over a week left for the Gujarat elections' first phase, the fight for power in Gujarat has become intense on Wednesday with all the main parties going on rallies, which included PM Modi, the Patidar community leader Hardik Patel and Congress VP Rahul Gandhi.

Campaigning has reached a feverish pitch with just a week remaining for the first phase of assembly polls. PM Modi would address campaign rallies in Bharuch in south Gujarat and Surendranagar and Rajkot in Saurashtra. PM Modi would also visit Ahmedabad in the evening to attend a function at Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Vishwavidya Pratisthanam (SGVP).


Meanwhile, BJP President Amit Shah, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, and Chief Minister Vijay Rupani among others will address a series of public meetings today. Vijay Rupani begins his road show in Umra and PAAS convener Hardik Patel begins his road show from Katargam in Surat.

Also, from Congress side, party vice President Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have taken on the mantle of star campaigners.

Meanwhile, a team of Election Commission officials led by Chief Election Commissioner AK Joti yesterday took stock of poll preparedness and law and order situation. Today, it will meet Chief Electoral Officer, Chief Secretary and other high officials of the state government. Apart from this, the EC will also hold meetings with the central government officials.

A lot of initiatives are being undertaken under Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) to ensure inclusive and ethical participation of voters. Booth Awareness Groups have been activated at the Polling Stations for educating the voters and motivating them.

Campus Ambassadors have been activated in educational institutions for facilitating electoral participation amongst youth. All available platforms of information dissemination are being utilized including electronic, digital, outdoor, print, folk, inter-personal and social media.
