New Delhi, Feb 10 : Senior IAS officer from finance ministry Ajay Tyagi is all set to head the post of Securities and Exchange Board of India. He will replace the U.K. Sinha who will be completing his tenure on March 1, 2017. The Securities and Exchange Board of India is the regulator for the securities market in India.
Tyagi , A 1984-batch IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre is currently working as a Additional Secretary (Investment) in the Department of Economic Affairs.
Earlier U K Sinha took charge as Sebi chief on February 18, 2011, and was initially appointed for a 3-year term. Later, he was given a two-year extension.
