New Delhi, February 18: Aadhar Card Now Mandatory for Central Government Scholarship Schemes For School and College Students. The government has announced that Aadhar card is must in order to avail Central Sector Scholarship Scheme.Union Human Resource Development Ministry (HRD) has said that to avail benefit under the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for College and University students, applicants will now have to furnish proof of possession of Aadhaar card or undergo Aadhaar authentication.
The notification issued by the ministry yesterday said those who are receiving these scholarships but don't have an Aadhar card will have to apply for enrollment by 30th of June. Ministry said, the move brings in transparency and enables beneficiaries to get entitlements directly to and Aadhaar obviates the need for producing multiple documents to prove identity.
However, till the time Aadhaar is assigned to the students, they may get scholarships on the basis of documents like Aadhaar Enrollment ID slip, Aadhaar enrollment application, the Voter identity card, PAN card.
The ministry has made similar provisions for school students who are due to apply for Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme. The ministry plans to implement these rules in all Indian states except Jammu and Kashmir immediately from the day of the publication of the notice.
Recently Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) also made Aadhar compulsory for candidates applying to its vacant posts. All the candidates must mention their Aadhar card number in their registration form. The decision has been taken in order to avoid impersonations during the examinations. Mentioning Aadhar card number is a convenient and hassle free way of finding out the identity of examinees.
