New Delhi, Feb 3: Eminent author and noted economist, Sanjeev Sanyal has been appointed as the Principal Economic Adviser. Sanyal will be working under the department of economic affairs. Cabinet Committee on appointments has appointed Sanyal for three years on contract basis mentioned in the order issued by Dopt.
Sanjeev Sanyal was Chief the economist and Director of Global Markets Research at Deutsche Bank in Singapore till 2008. He also had worked with the internationally acclaimed institutions and has a vast experience of handling the international financial markets.
Sanyal is an Advisor at Aavishkaar India Micro Venture Capital Fund. He also wokrs with the the Institute of Policy Studies Singapore. Along with this he is associated with several international like Oxford University, John Templeton Foundation. He is also serving as the director of the Green Accounting for Indian States Project, and member of the governing council of the economic society of Singapore.
He was chosen for the Young Global Leader for 2010 by the World Economic Forum in Davos. Recognition his contributions to Asia's financial markets in the year 2008 CNBC named included his name in the list of "Young Turk". During World Cities Summit 2014 Singapore government honoured Sanyal as a Young Leader held in June 2014.
Sanjeev Sanyal has penned several best-selling books like 'The Indian Renaissance: India's Rise after a Thousand Years of Decline' , 'Land of the Seven Rivers: A Brief History of India's Geography', 'The Incredible History of India's Geography' and 'The Ocean of Churn: How human history was shaped by the Indian Ocean.' In July 2014, Sanyal won the first International Indian Achiever's Award for his contributions to Literature.
