The attack by Islamists at Kaliachak in Malda district of West Bengal on 03 Jan 2016 has received some coverage at least in the national media but there has been complete gag thereafter as evident from 16 communal riots from Oct 2016 till date and especially the incident which occurred in Tehatta Secondary School at Uluberia or the dreadful riots at Dhulagarh in Howrah district. But, the account is part of a bigger picture, that of Islamisation of West Bengal. The state, which once was known for its rich and vibrant culture across the country, has recently become the graveyard of Hindus thanks to Muslim appeasement policy being followed by the Congress initially after independence followed by communist rule for 34 yrs and nail on the coffin by All India Trinamool Congress for last 06 yrs.
The irony was stark. In mid-January, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted her opposition to the date of the Union Budget, citing Saraswati Puja. But when the puja actually happened, several schools across Bengal, including a few situated just a stone's throw away from her administration like the Tehatta Secondary School in Kolkata, were forced to cancel the festivities fearing reprisals from Islamist groups.Even Gourbanga University located at Maldah which has been celebrating Durga Puja since its inception has been forced this year not to celebrate Saraswati Puja.
Saraswati Puja and educational institutions in West Bengal are synonymous to each other and a festival time for the youth during this period. This is the first time since independence that the Hindu boys and girls were denied their basic fundamental rights of religion against article 21 of Constitution Of India.
The reason they reportedly wanted Prophet Muhammad's birthday Nabi Diwas to be celebrated first in the educational institution which has never been celebrated till date.Birthday of Prophet has got nothing to do with celebrations in educational institutions whereas Saraswati Puja has.
Welcome to the new Bengal, where secular institutions, including schools, are facing increasing interference from the Islamist radicals, even as the state's ruling party shamelessly passes the buck or opts for outright denial. In fact, these radicals are in a way given tacit support by the administration on orders of the Chief Minister to allow a free run of the radicals for appeasement and vote bank as more than 34% are minority population unofficially in West Bengal and approx 100 assembly seats are determined by this community. The situation is graver in border districts where religious fanaticism is allowed to play havoc more easily.
Can one imagine that Hindus demanding Saraswati Puja in a madrassa? Their demand was same to celebrate Nabi Diwas in a government secondary school. After the Tehatta School authority firmly refused to allow Nabi Diwas celebration inside school premises, the school was shut down for 26 days in a row and closed till date. The Principal was forced to put in his resignation. The students appearing for their Secondary examinations two weeks from now are still perplexed and not received their admit cards. What is their fault Madam Chief Minister? You falter in your administration, radicalise environment and are children to be blamed.
Though district school observers ordered the school to be reopened, a local Muslim leader, Qasim Siddiqui, brother of Toha Sidiqqui, local imam wherein all ministers and Chief Minister of West Bengal keep him in good humour upped the ante with his followers and refused the re-opening. Meanwhile, the school president wrote a letter to the local police, in which he has urged the law enforcement agencies to take corrective actions to prevent a possible communal flare up.
Following this, the school was opened briefly but was closed again to avoid clashes over Saraswati Puja celebrations.
A protest march led by students and residents of the area, carrying a 3-ft tall idol of Goddess Saraswati, meanwhile, turned violent and the police had to resort to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd.
The school currently remains shut, and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel deployed in nearby areas. RAF and local police force were used against the young girls and boys of class VII and IX and few were hurt in the lathi charge by the police against these young students, not even adults. But the same police failed to disperse the huge Islamist forces which surrounded the school on 13 Dec 2016 and forced the school to close down. The Mamata Banerjee government could have used the same police force and administration to ensure that she did not bow down to the Islamic forces and allowed the puja in the school premises which had been celebrated for the last 45 years,
But how can fundamentalist outfits hold entire school administrations to ransom?Jamat-e-Islami Hind, an outfit that has been previously banned by the Central government, has been distributing theological books on Islam and Prophet Muhammed in government schools. What happened at Kaliachak, Dhulagarh and Tehatta are dangerous, but what's more worrying is the government's' action or inaction is based on the selective acknowledgement of the incidents. Muslims comprise 48 % of jail inmates in West Bengal though their population is around 34%
A heavy contingent of police is over-viewing the ongoing to stop further deterioration of the situation. The communal situation in West Bengal is worsening day by day under the Muslim appeasement policy of ruling TMC and WB CM Mamata Banerjee.
Akin to a traffic signal, West Bengal was stagnant under the Reds, and now is spending to political anarchy under the Greens. The CPM was famed for delivering mediocre governance but playing good politics. Under TMC, the line dividing mediocre governance from bad politics has grown unclear. This breakdown of governance is clearly visible when Didi described various events from rape to assaults on journalists to even the shooting and killing of a policeman during the local by-poll election process at a local college as “fabricated”
Mamata Banerjee has proved beyond doubt that she can even risk national security for her own vested interests. Didi often claimed that her mind belonged to Rabindranath while Nazrul ruled her conscience, but now it looks as if both Rabindranath and Nazrul have been replaced by Jihad.
Did Didi’s call for change mean the transfiguration of West Bengal into Jihadi Bengal? We, however, are yet to witness the Hindu uprising because of weak leadership of Hindu group organisation or the BJP which has no foothold in West Bengal because of poor compromised leadership yet to gain the faith of the Hindu majority.
