Bhubaneswar, February 8: India registered a comprehensive win against New Zealand and swiftly entered into semi-finals of the T-20 World Cup for blind at KIIT stadium in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. Notably, India registered their seventh victory in the tournament.
Earlier New Zealand won the toss and posted 136 runs for 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. B D Wilson was the highest scorer with 52 off 51 balls. India bowlers Iqbal Jafar, another Odia, took two wickets and Ketan Patel got one wicket.
Chasing the total of 137 runs, India easily won the match by making 140 for 1, in 9 overs. Captain Ajay Kumar Reddy was the top scorer with an unbeaten 75 off 28 deliveries, while Man of the Match Sukhram Majhi remained not out on 56.
Sukhram was awarded the man of the match title for his unbeaten 56 runs off only 25 balls with total 11 boundaries. "I am satisfied with my performances in the world cup and hope India would repeat its victory this time again. The love and encouragement by the spectators of my own state is really mesmerizing," said Sukhram.
Over a thousand children from Special Schools from various cities had turned up to watch the match. The Indian team would play its next match against Nepal at Vijayawada. Earlier, India defeated South Africa, Australia, England, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka etc. India has lost only one game by Pakistan.
