Lucknow, March 10: Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested the mastermind of Bhopal-Ujjain passenger train blast and the boss of terrorist Saifullah on Thursday night.
Additional Director-General of UP Police (Law and Order), Daljit Singh Chawdhary, said, a terror suspect and mastermind of ‘khorasan’ module Ghouse Mohammad Khan was arrested along with one of his close aide Azhar from Lucknow. Khan is a technical man and a hardcore member of the module. He was the main accused and mastermind of the module, he said.
He has revealed vital information during questioning. The second suspect arrested yesterday Azhar, was the main supplier of arms for the module, said UP ADG.
With this, the total number of arrests in the case has reached eight. While five members of the module radicalised by the Islamic State terror group have been arrested from UP, three others have been arrested from Madhya Pradesh.
According to sources, Khan taught the other members of the Khorasan module about ISIS via books and texts. The attack had left at least four people severely injured. The blast occurred in a general coach of the train between 9.30 am and 10 am, when it was en route to Ujjain from Bhopal.
Meanwhile, Saifullah was killed by commandos in a house on the outskirts of Lucknow yesterday morning after an exchange of fire with the police for about 12 hours. Saifullah was allegedly one of nine members of a newly-formed ISIS cell.
However, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been handed over the probe into the suspected terror plot, including the Lucknow encounter.
