New Delhi, March 10 : Telecom giant Reliance Jio and famous e-commerce company Paytm have apologised for using the Photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in their respective commercial advertisement.
After receiving the legal notices from Ministry of Consumer Affairs under the under the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act of 1950, which does not allow the use of prime minister’s name and picture for commercial purpose. Both the companies will have to bare the financial penalty for violation of act.
In the month of September last year, the telecom company Reliance Jio owned by Mukesh Ambani had published the full page advertisements with the photograph of PM Modi praising the digital India initiative.
Similarly in the month of November when Prime Minister Modi announced the historic decision of demonetization the online payment getaway and e-commerce Company, Paytm issued an advertisement advocating the move of the Prime Minister.
