BJP’s Mukta Tilak becomes the 56th Mayor of Pune

Pune, March 15 : After the unprecedented victory in the recently held civic polls BJP elected Mukta Tilak, a four-time corporator for the top job of mayor. This is for the first time BJP party has won 98 of the 162 seats in the Pune Municipal Corporation making inroads in the Pune region considered to be the stronghold of NCP. 

BJP’s Mukta Tilak polled 98 votes, by defeating NCP candidate Nanda Lonkar who could manage only 52 votes. Navnath Kamble of RPI (A) has been chosen for the post of deputy mayor.

Tilak, represents Kasba Peth prabhag which is the assembly constituency of Minister Girish Bapat. Mukta Tilak is a wife of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak’s great-grandson Shailesh.

Having the experience of corporate world Tilak has worked as a market research analyst in MNCs. Mukta Tilak has completed her graduation in psychology from Fergusson College and later did MBA (marketing) from the Institute of Management Development and Research (IMDR) here. She also holds a diploma in journalism from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
