CM Manohar Parrikar won trust vote with support of 22 MLAs in Goa Assembly

Panaji, March 16: After taking oath on Tuesday Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today faced a floor test to prove his majority where he won the trust votes with the support of 21 MLAs. BJP leader and also the CM Manohar Parrikar was invited by Governor Mridula Sinha to form a government.

During the Assembly Session BJP won with 22 trust votes while Congress ended up with 16 trust votes. Congress MLA Vishwajit Rane stepped out during the Assembly session.  

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar took oath as a Chief Minister of Goa after resigning from the post of Defense Minister on Tuesday. Today after CM Parrikar won the vote of trust, Dayanand Sopte, Sudin Dhavalikar, Vijai Sardesai, Ravi Naik are expected to take oath. The budget of Goa will be presented on March 24, while the Governor’s address to the assembly will take place on March 23.

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was confident about the victory as he had the support of 22 MLAs – three each from MGP and Goa Forward and thee independent. Later, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Churchill Alemao also extended his support to the government.

Vijai Sardesai of the Goa Forward Party backed Parrikar saying that “we are with Manohar Parrikar as long as the government adheres to our common minimum programme.”

On the other side, Congress blame their loss saying that they were not given chance to form a government.  Rather they said that BJP tried to gain more people by bribing them. To this CM Parrikar replied that “Those people who have practiced (in the past of bribing MLAs to join their party) are making such baseless allegations. When you don yellow sunglasses, the whole world looks yellow. This is the same situation with them (the opposition party).”

Many of twitteratis have expressed good wishes and hopes towards CM Manohar Parrikar for good governance.
