Guwahati, March 16: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday filed a supplementary charge sheet in Special NIA Court at Guwahati against the accused of a dreadful terrorist attack in Kokrajhar district of Assam where seven people were killed and two other were injured.
Rabi Basumatary was charged by NIA under sections 302, 307, 34 of IPC read with sections 16 and 20 of UA (P) Act. However, the case was registered after the dreadful terrorist attack on 01.05.2014 by NDFB (S) militants upon the innocent villagers in Balapara Part – I under Gossaigaon Police Station, district Kokrajhar , Assam where seven people belonging to a religious minority community were killed and two others were grievously injured by indiscriminate firing with sophisticated weapons.
NIA arrested the accused Rabi Basumatary on 19 September 2016 and during the course of the investigation, it has collected adequate evidence on the basis of field investigation as well as forensic to prove his complicity in the instant case. The accused Rabi Basumatary belongs to Baksa district of Assam and a trained cadre of NDFB (S).
Earlier, the another accused Pradip Brahma has already been convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment and is undergoing jail term at the Central Jail, Guwahati. Interestingly, the NDFB terrorist organization have targeted the minor religious groups and killed them. In the year 2015 also this outfit target minor religious groups and killed over 70 peoples in Assam.
