Security forces eliminate 6 Naxalites in Chhattisgarh forests

Raipur, Mar 18: In a fierce encounter that is still on in the forests of Dantewada in Chhattisgarh, the security forces have eliminated as many as six Naxalites and recovered one AK-41 from them.

According to Indian Express reports, the encounter is currently underway and so far body of one Naxal is recovered from Burdum area.

The encounter broke out between the security forces and the Naxalites on Saturday in Chattisgarh’s Dantewara district. According to the news agency ANI, the encounter is still going on and six Naxalites were killed but the body of one Naxal is recovered from the Burdum area.

The police had gunned down a couple of Naxalites on Thursday in an encounter in the Narayanpur district.

According to officials, the encounter took place early Saturday in the Burdum village when a joint squad of CRPF and District Reserve Group (DRG) of state police was out for operations. “The encounter is still on. A Naxal has been killed and an AK series assault rifle has been recovered,” a senior officer told PTI.

Reinforcement teams have been rushed in, officials said, adding reports from the spot are coming in delayed as the encounter area is in interior forests of the Dantewada district in south Bastar. The 111 battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is leading the operation, they said.
