Delhi, 20 March 2017: Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Faggan Singh Kulaste celebrates ‘World Oral Health Day’ with the senior officers of the Ministry in Delhi today. On this celebratory note, MoS launched the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) material, National Dental and Oral Health Information and IVR portal including a toll free number to address oral health queries.


MoS Kulaste remarks, “Oral health is integral to the overall health of a person and will contribute to the all-round development of the nation.” He also added that India has taken huge strides in the healthcare sector and it is now amongst those nations that have dedicated programme on oral health; raising awareness about dental health is a need of the hour.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary (Health and Family Welfare), C K Mishra also stated that oral diseases are becoming the leading health problems. Thus, attributing to the rapidly changing lifestyles, wide-spread use of tobacco and increased consumption of alcohol. The Ministry is integrating the oral health programme with other programmes so that adequate steps can be taken to mitigate and minimise the conditions arising from poor health.

Also, present at the function were honourable Joint Secretary Manoj Jhalani and Lav Agarwal along with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
