New Delhi, March 24 : Renowned pulmonologist and Padma Shri awardee Randeep Guleria has been appointed as the Director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi.
Guleria who is serving as the heads the Department of Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Disorders at AIIMS will be holding the charge for five years. The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences is the apex body for medical education.
He has major contribution for setting up the India’s first centre for pulmonary medicine and sleep disorders at AIIMS. The cabinet Committee on appointments has approved the name of Randeep Guleria for the post of director. He will take the charge from Prof M.C. Misra.
Randeep Guleria did his medical studies at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh, from where he secured his MD in general medicine and DM in pulmonary medicine. Dr Guleria has worked as a personal physician to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and has also treated leaders like Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley.
