Kenley, Croydon (London), March 24 : The arguments and discussions over the questionability of technology and its harmful repercussions on people’s lifestyle have never been the subject of discussions and arguments more than they are now. With the ever expanding and developing science, the world is becoming more and more tech-savvy, and subsequently, so are some of the subtleties and nuances that make us human.
In a satisfyingly strange incident that occurred in the Croydon district of the London Boroughs in UK, a four-year-old boy, Roman, was able to save his mother’s life with the help of his mother’s iPhone. The Apple’s voice assistant Siri reportedly helped him save contact the emergency services, demonstrating the advantages of advancing technology.
According to reports, Roman’s mother collapsed at home after which, he unlocked his mother’s iPhone using her thumb and with the help of Siri called the 999 emergency services.During the call, the boy told the voice assistant that he thought his mother had died because “she was closing her eyes and not breathing.”
The operator guided Roman, asking him to shake his mother. In the meantime, the research team located Roman’s address on the basis of the conversation.Thirteen minutes later, officers arrived at Roman’s home. They discovered Roman’s mother lying unconscious on the floor and the paramedics were successfully able to bring her back to consciousness. After which, she was taken to the hospital.
"Hearing this call brings home the importance of teaching your young child their home address and how to call police or emergency services in an emergency situation," Met Police Chief Superintendent Ade Adelekan said.
"If you do nothing else today, then I'd implore any parents of young children to sit down with them and make sure they know what to do in this kind of situation and that they know how to contact police or other emergency services in an emergency. As this case demonstrates so poignantly, it could really be the difference between life and death."
Unarguably the radical development in technology is taking humans away from the aspects that make us humans in the first place. Despite all of that, there are some advantages of these advancements that undeniably make it helpful for humans.
