Pune, March 24: Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad yesterday in the morning while travelling in the Air India AI 852 flight thrashed a 60 year old AI staffer badly. Air India has filed an FIR against the Shiv Sena MP. Meanwhile, Air India&FIA member airlines have decided to ban this MP(R Gaikwad) from flying on all their flights with immediate effect.
He will be barred from flying in Air India flight until he goes for appeal. Rest, the court will decide.
The whole incident started when the Shiv Sena MP was travelling from Pune to New Delhi and could not get a business class seat. According to the airline authorities, Gaikwad booked an open ticket in business class with Air India. This service provides the person to board any flight on any given date. The event went ablaze when MP insisted to board the 7:35AM AI 852 which was an all economy class. Soon after, Gaikwad became violent and started hitting the 60 year old staffer with slippers. “I hit him 25 times”, alleged Gaikwad.
“I kept asking for a complaint book but they kept refusing. Finally, I told them I am an MP but they said 'Who MP, we only understand Narendra Modi,” he said. He further added, “I told them that I am a Shiv Sena MP and not from the BJP, but they refused to budge. Then I held his collar and started hitting him."
Shiv Sena MP R.Gaikwad also says, "I won't apologise, not my mistake. Vo (victim) pehle maafi mange fir dekhenge." Upon this incident, LS Speaker Sumitra Mahajan reacts to the situation by saying that the incident took place outside the Parliament so we will look into the matter shortly.
When asked AI staffer about the incident, he said, “ Gaikwad’s request was denied. Then he started hitting me and humiliated me in front of the crew.”
The 57 year old Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad is a professor who is famously known as ‘Ravi Sir’, he holds MCom and B Ed degrees. He stands for the Osmanabad constituency from Marathwada region. Apart from his political career, he has also been charged with various criminal charges and forceful apprehension.
