Mathura, Mar 28: Condemning the incident of mass copying in board examination in Uttar Pradesh BJP leader and MP Dr Subramanian Swamy termed it as the crisis of character.
According to reports, the UP Board of Secondary Education has to postpone English language paper in Mathura. Expressing his opinion on this event, Dr Swamy said that this was the result of low character. This was a result of people looking for shortcuts, he added.
Stating that the matter of mass copying was not restricted to Uttar Pradesh only, the BJP leader said that such incidents had happened in the past in Bihar and other states. Swamy called for efforts that would ensure effective full stop to such incidents. He said that it was most unfortunate to learn that the teachers and principals were encouraging such acts. This was very unfortunate. This should be stopped forthwith, he added.
The English Examinations of Class 10 of the Uttar Pradesh Board was postponed at two centres after an incident of mass cheating surfaced.
Union HRD Minister Prakash Javdekar too described this incident as unfortunate stating that this reflected the downfall of our education system. Stating that this was not acceptable, Javdekar said compromising on merit and brilliance was absolutely not acceptable.
The centre would take up this issue with the state government and evolve some concrete plans to stop this unfair practice, he added.
The government has issued helpline number to register cheating related complaints in order to check incidents of cheating in Uttar Pradesh Board Exam.
