Lucknow, March 30: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that practicing Yoga is the gateway to public welfare and prosperity. Yoga provides positive energy based on which problems like poverty, penury, malpractices and misconduct. The Chief Minister was today speaking at the inaugural session of the 'Uttar Pradesh Yoga Mahotsava-2017' at Gomtinagar.
Lauding the efforts of Baba Ramdev and other associate institutions in organizing the Mahotsava, the Chief Minister said one can move forward in life through Yoga and positive thinking. He appreciated the work done by Baba Ramdev in popularizing Yoga and said that he was happy to be part of the event.
The Chief Minister also appreciated the efforts and initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to get June 21 declared as the International Yoga Day by the United Nations and said that 172 countries in the year of 2015 and 192 countries in 2016 got connected to Yoga Day. He also added that after the Modi government came to power in 2014, the country was emerging as a superpower and an economic force.
Terming India as a country of Yoga the Chief Minister pointed out on how the culture of India was not affected by glamour and power but to work to serve the country and the society and make it a better place to live. If we continue on this path no power on earth can stop us from becoming Vishwaguru, the Chief Minister said. He also said that people who follow Yoga do not believe in sects, religions or caste and negate such forces.
Yoga, he pointed out not only added to physical strength but also brought to the fore mental maturity. Yoga, he further stated, can lead to a healthy life and to usher in social and spiritual revolution. He also expressed his gratitude towards Yogiraj Gorakshnath Peeth and discussed its contribution in his life.
