Maharajganj/Lucknow, March 4: A day before the polling in 6th phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections began, the border adjacent to neighbouring Nepal has been insulted. In the 6th phase of the 7-phase polling program, votes will be cast for 49 seats on March 4.
According to agency reports, the 84-km border Uttar Pradesh shared with Nepal has been sealed 24 hours prior to the polling and will remain insulated till the polling ends on March 4 evening.
Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has been entrusted the task of guarding the border. Only emergency vehicles will be allowed to pass the border during this period, informed the DEO Virendra Kumar Singh.
CCTVs are installed at trade and transit points along the Indian side of the border with Nepal to prevent illegal movement of the people during the period of polling.
The DEO said that two such cameras were already set up at Sonauli Indo-Nepal Border of Maharajganj district.
Five Assembly seats in the district- Siswa, Nautanwa, Frenda, Paniyara and Maharajganj - are going to polls in the penultimate phase-VI of UP Assembly polls tomorrow.
