Assembly elections : Seventh phase ends up with the voter turnout of  60.03 per cent in UP; Manipur touches record break 86 per cent polling

New Delhi, March 8 : After the high voltage Political campaign for the big fight of Uttar Pradesh the polling of seventh phase concluded with the voter turnout 60.03 per cent till 5 PM.

The polling took place in 40 constituencies including PM Narendra Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi.  Near about seven districts in eastern region have participated in this concluding phase.

The districts covered in this phase of polls are Ghazipur, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Chandauli, Sant Ravidas Nagar Bhadohi, Sonebhadra and Mirzapur. The poll percentage in the first phase was 64.22, in the second 65.16, third phase 61.16, fourth phase 60.37, fifth phase 57.37 and sixth phase 57.03.

Following the trend of first phase with unprecedented response, Manipur has registered the record voter turnout of 86 per cent in the final phase of Assembly election. During this phase 98 candidates have contested in the last phase which also includes human rights activist Irom Sharmila.

Polling which began at 7 am ended at 3 pm in 22 Assembly constituencies spread over the valley district of Thoubal and the hill districts of Ukhrul, Chandel, Tamenglong and Senapati. A huge voter turnout of 84 per cent was recorded in the

first phase of polling to the 60-member Assembly on March 4. The counting of votes in the five states will be held on March 11.
