Srinagar, March 8: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday night bust Hizbul Mujahideen outfit and arrested three terrorists during checking at Srinagar's Bemina bypass. The police also seized heavy arms and ammunitions from the arrested terrorists.
A police official said, “All three arrested persons are working for the terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen and belong to Kishtwar district of Jammu region.” “Two Chinese pistols, 20 rounds of pistol ammunition, four grenades, a wireless set and a packet of explosives were recovered from them,” the police official added. He further said that the FIR is registered against all the arrested persons and investigation has begun.
According to sources, the three arrested terrorists are named as Riyaz Ahmad Wani, Ikhlaq Ahmad Khanday and Tosweef ul Nabi. These three were working with Jehangir Saroori, one of the longest surviving insurgent commanders in Jammu division.
Notably, Jehangir Saroori is the operational chief of Hizbul Mujahideen for Jammu division. He is already on the radar of NIA since long and has been charged with providing logistics for the Delhi bomb blast that killed 15 and injured 80. Earlier on March 2, the security forces apprehended a Hizbul Mujahideen militant in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama. They also recovered a huge amount of arms and ammunition from the militant.
