Mumbai, March 9 : Taking the cognizance of opposition’s demand, Maharashtra legislative council Chairperson Ram Raje Nimbalkar initiated the suspension of independent legislator Prashant Paricharak over his derogatory remarks on the wives of army personnel. Paricharak will undergo the suspension for 1.5 years.
The Maharshtra goverment house has constituted a 10-member panel under the chairmanship of Speaker of the upper house comprising members of the state legislative council to investigate the statement given by MLC.
The high-power committee is expected to present its report before the monsoon session of the legislature begins. Prashant Paricharak, who got elected to the upper house with the backing of ruling party BJP came under the scanner over his objectionable remarks during the ZP poll.
Expressing anger over the controversial remarks of Solapur MLC senior BJP Minister and leader of the upper house BJP Minister Chandrakant Patil stated that this kind of behaviour does not suit a member of the state legislature. “Although the legislator apologised for his remarks through newspapers and other news media sources, his remarks were extremely objectionable” patil narrated.
