New Delhi, April 10: Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who is also expert in creating controversies and making allegations on others, this time has hit out on Election Commission over EVM tampering rows and compared EC with ‘Dhritarashtra’.
Notably, AAP leader and CM Arvind Kejriwal alleged that EC is trying to favour BJP in upcoming MCD polls in Delhi. Just before MCD elections, Delhi CM Kejriwal in a press conference quoted saying, "Chunaav aayog Dhritarashtra ban gaya hai jo apne bete Duryodhan ko saam daam dand bhed karke satta mein pohuchana chahta hai"
However, it’s not only Kejriwal’s AAP who alleged EVM tampering and demanded to use ballot machine voting but at least thirteen opposition parties have demanded the same. The Opposition parties will meet Election Commission officials at 5 pm today to take up the matter. On Wednesday (April 12), these 13 Opposition parties will meet President Pranab Mukherjee to submit a memorandum over tampering of EVMs.
Earlier, just two days before the Election Commission has rejected allegations of tampering in Electronic Voting Machines. Importantly, during the demonstration in Ater assembly by-polls in Bhind, Madhya Pradesh several parties alleged that electronic voting machines have tampered. Taking on this serious allegations, EC enquired all the aspects of various allegations raised in the media and by the political parties and rejected all the certain allegations.
Ever since the Assembly elections of five states in March took place, several political parties have questioned if electronic voting machines are tamper-proof. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati had alleged that EVMs were manipulated after the BJP registered a landslide win in Uttar Pradesh.
