Nagaland announces ‘15th of every month’ as ‘People’s Day’ to talk about their grievances

Kohima, April 10: Nagaland sets an example for other states as it will allow its people to meet the Chief Minister, Ministers, Commissioners, Secretaries, Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to lodge their complaints and air their grievances on the “15th of every month”.With an aim to provide easy access to the legislators and top bureaucrats, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh announced to hold ‘Meeyamgi Numit’ (People’s Day) on the “15th of every month”. This will let public to meet and talk about their grievances to the authoritative people. CM Biren Singh delivered this special announcement in a function hosted by the women vendors of Khwairamband Keithel in Imphal on Sunday.

CM Biren Singh said that “public would be allowed to meet the Chief Minister, Ministers, Commissioners, Secretaries, Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to lodge their complaints and air their grievances on the “15th of every month”. The Government is fully committed to work tirelessly in the interest of the people of Manipur.”

He said that “ending United Naga Council (UNC) sponsored economic blockade, resolving Churachandpur issue and revamping National Highway-37 were the three tasks which he had decided to do first soon after he was sworn-in as the Chief Minister.”
