Bengaluru, April 14: Underlining the importance of skill development along with the formal education President Pranab Mukherjee reiterated that youth must adopt professional skills to stand in global competition. President Mukherjee said after laying the foundation stone for the Bengaluru Dr B R Ambedkar School of Economics.
Speaking on the occasion of 126th Jayanti of Dr B R Ambedkar President Mukherjee underlined that youngsters are facing problem of unemployment only because of inadequate skills which are required by the industry.
“600 million youth are entering the job market, but their employability is not adequate” said President. He further noted that skill development is the most important factor for overall development of the country.
Coining the term of gross national happiness, Mukherjee asserted that the concept of development has been changed in global context where international organisations like the World Bank and IMF have started mapping of development in terms of GDP as well as gross national happiness.
On this occasion Governor Vajubhai Vala, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Union ministers Ananth Kumar and D V Sadananda Gowda and other officials were present.
