Bhubaneswar, April 15: Seventy-one village youths, including six women, today joined service of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited MCL, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited having operations in Odisha.Since its inception 26 years ago, MCL has given employment to around 13000 families of landowners.Welcoming the new recruits to MCL by providing safety helmets, General Manager of the Hingula Area Kalicharan Khuntia said the newly-joined coal miners will add to the strength of Coal India in general and Hingula Area of MCL. The new appointees, who belonged to the village Soloda of Talcher in coal-rich Angul district of Odisha, were welcomed at a ceremony organized at Hingula Area of MCL.
Wishing for their successful service period, Chairman & Managing Director of MLC A K Jha, said: ‘’I congratulate all the new recruits joining MCL at Hingula Area and wish that their joining will take MCL to further heights in the ladder of success.’’
Known for its attractive compensation package to the land-losers, MCL has provided employment to over 12,000 families of land-losers in Angul, Jharsuguda and Sundergarh district of Odisha.
Hingula Area has offered 165 employments of the eligible families of which 71 have completed all formalities of joining the service, including a mandatory fitness test, and received posting orders.
The company, which contributes around 25% to the total coal production of Coal India, supplied record 143 million tonne dry fuel to consumers, the majority of which includes thermal power plants.
