PM Modi inaugurates many projects in Gujarat; says committed to provide affordable healthcare for poor

Surat, April 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated a series of projects such as Multi Super Speciality Hospital and Research Centre in Surat, a diamond polishing at Hira Bourse Special Economic Zone at Icchapur, a cattle feed plant and ice-cream plant of Sumul Dairy at Bajipura, lay foundation stone for dairy products plant at Nava Pardi, several other projects in Silvassa.
During all the inauguration functions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi address a public gathering in which he emphasized on the betterment of not only Gujarat but also for the country.

PM inaugurates Multi-Speciality Hospital, Diamond Manufacturing Unit in Surat:

Addressing a huge public gathering in Surat after inaugurating Multi-Speciality Hospital and Diamond Manufacturing Unit in Surat described the effort devoted towards making the hospital as “commendable”, and added that the state-of-the-art hospital would benefit citizens. He emphasized that the poor must have access to quality and affordable healthcare.

Embeded ObjectIn this context, he talked about the Government’s initiatives to bring down the prices of medicines, stents etc. He said he is committed to providing affordable healthcare for the poor and the middle class. Calling for the focus on preventive health care, the Prime Minister said that the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is linked to efforts towards a healthier India.

PM Modi also noted that Surat has made a mark in the diamond industry but there is now need to look at the entire gems and jewelry sector. He said that as far as the gems and jewelry sector is concerned, our aim should not only be ‘Make in India’ but also 'Design in India'.

Addressing a large gathering, the Prime Minister recalled having worked in this area for a long time. He said SUMUL – the Surat District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited - has empowered several people in the nearby areas. He said the stretch from Umbergaon to Ambaji has been transformed and this has benefited the tribal communities of Gujarat.

Embeded ObjectHere, in SUMUL we see the positive results that can be achieved when Cooperatives and Government work together, the Prime Minister said. He said SUMUL also illustrates the good that happens when farmers and dairies work closely.

The Prime Minister said that Tapi district is one of the newer districts of Gujarat, and he is happy to see it achieve remarkable progress.  PM Modi also called for value addition in the agriculture sector, and focus on increasing per capita milk production.

PM Modi also visited Silvassa town in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, where he addressed a gathering apart from inaugurating a few projects. However, now PM Modi will visit Saurashtra and inaugurate phase-1 of the ambitious Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation project for Botad and surrounding districts and also lay a foundation stone for the phase-2.

Under the project divided into four phases, the Gujarat government plans to fill 115 dams of Saurashtra region with overflowing water of Sardar Sarovar Dam across river Narmada through a web of the pipeline network.

Earlier, on Sunday Narendra Modi landed to a rousing reception in Surat. People from all walks of life joined the public reception to catch a glimpse of the PM. Tremendous enthusiasm gripped people as the Prime Minister's cavalcade made its way ahead.
