New Delhi, April 21: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of Civil Services Day honored bureaucrats for their excellence today. Also, he confers the Prime Minister's awards for excellence in Public Administration to districts and other central and state organisations for effective implementation of Programmes and use of innovation.
Speaking at an event to mark Civil Services Day, PM Narendra Modi said, “The push for reform comes from political leadership but the perform angle is determined by officers and Jan Bhagidari transforms”, said the PM. He said that every policy must be outcome centric.
He remarked that E-governance, M-governance, social media were good means to reach out to the people and for their benefits. The PM said, “A spirit of ownership is essential. Let us believe that through this set up we can bring a positive change in people's lives.”
The PM said that earlier, role of the government, from healthcare to wanting to set up an industry, was very strong but things are changing and people are looking for alternatives. “Changing trends in the last 15-20 years have altered the dynamics. Competition can play a big role in bringing a qualitative change. With changing times, a need may arise that we may have to change our working style. From regulator, we need to be an enabling entity.”
The awards are being conferred on Civil Servants from Districts, Central and State organisations for effective implementation of Governement Programmes and Innovation. The awards have been instituted with a view to acknowledge, recognize and reward the talent for extraordinary and innovative work done for the welfare of common citizen.
