Shimla, April 26 : Taking a first step towards the affordable air service, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the first affordable flight service called UDAN for Shimla-Delhi sector. Along with this PM Modi will also flag off the inaugural UDAN flights on Kadapa – Hyderabad and Nanded-Hyderabad sectors.
This will be the first Shimal visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi after assuming the office in 2014.Prime Minister is also schedule to address the mammoth rally at Ridge Maidan. The first flight which will be inaugurated by the PM will be operated by Alliance Air, the regional arm of Air India.

In order to improve the regional connectivity, the project Ude Deshka Aam Naagrik’ (UDAN) was launched in October2016, by Ministry of Civil Aviation .The UDAN Scheme is a key component of the National Civil Aviation Policy.
The Scheme was developed through extensive consideration of various issues and consultations with stakeholders. The scheme will improve the connectivity between important cities.
Under this ambitious project the fare for a one-hour journey of about 500km on a fixed wing aircraft or a 30-minute journey on a helicopter will be charged at Rs2,500, with proportionate pricing for routes of different lengths and duration.
To reduce cost of operations, the Centre will provide concessions in the form of reduced excise on value-added tax (VAT), service tax and flexibility in code sharing at airports under the regional connectivity scheme.
