New Delhi, April 3: Rio Olympics Silver Medallist PV Sindhu and Olympic champion Carolina Marin were playing after 7 months with each other, and Sindhu won the India Open Superseries 2017 with 21-19, 21-16. The 21 year old Sindhu has created a legacy after entering the finals of Hong Kong Open and World Super series Finals.
Her game has reached the top-notch level. She is even more confident and controlled in her defense strategy. She started off with dominating demeanor yesterday but eventually, calmed down. Sindhu took over the game with 6 consecutive points. Marin tried coming back into the game but failed miserably.
In front of a cheering home crowd at the Sirifort Sports Complex, the third seeded Indian dominated the match from the start. Sindhu had last defeated Marin in the BWF Super Series in Dubai last year.
It was a head-to-head fight this time as well. They both have played each other around 8 times at International level until now.
Earlier in the Mens’ Singles, Viktor Axelsen of Denmark clinched the Men's Singles title of the tournament beating Chinese Taipei's Tien Chen Chou in straight games. Third seed Axelsen edged past Chou 21-13, 21-10 to claim his maiden India Open title.
